Book Review: Worn: Footwear, Attachment and the Affects of Wear, by Ellen Sampson

It was my pleasure recently to review Ellen Sampson’s book ‘Worn: Footwear, Attachment and the Affects of Wear’ for Fashion Theory.

Located within the fields of new materialism and material culture studies, the book questions “what is the significance of the worn and used garment? What is our attachment to clothes which are marked through wear and why do they have the power to affect us so deeply?” (2020, 11) - particularly poignant questions in these digital times.

Access the original manuscript of my review below. The Version of Record of the manuscript has been published and is available in Fashion Theory, <21.06.2021>, https://www.tandfonline.com/ , https://doi.org/10.1080/1362704X.2021.1935494
